CIMB Bank PH open to Future IPO After Reaching Profitability

• CIMB Bank PH CEO Vijay Manoharan said the bank is open to listing on the PSE to attract more investors after reaching profitability in 2023.

• The bank reported 8 million customers as of end-May 2024, with total active customer accounts exceeding 11 million.

LANDBANK launches GoBayani digital deposit account for OFWs

• The GoBayani account offers Filipinos abroad access to LANDBANK’s digital banking services, allowing them to manage transactions online, such as transferring funds to their families.

• Filipinos abroad can open an account without an initial deposit or maintaining balance through the LANDBANK mobile banking app.

• Users can pay bills and other dues online, with future capabilities including payments to the Pag-Ibig Fund, SSS, and PhilHealth.

BSP orders quicker refunds for failed InstaPay, PESONet transfers

• BSP has approved new standards for refunding failed InstaPay or PESONet fund transfers.

• Starting January 2025, banks will be required to refund failed fund transfers within 1 to 2 hours, an improvement from the usual period of 2 to 3 banking days.

Security Bank officially launched its LazMall Flagship Store

• Security Bank has partnered with Lazada to offer its retail banking products to online shoppers.

• Through its LazMall, users can browse and check out Security Bank's auto loan, home loan, credit cards and deposit products.

• Customers will then receive detailed instructions from Security Bank on how to proceed with their application.

1st Takaful insurance offering in PH may be launched within the year 

• The first Takaful insurance product may be sold within the year, with two insurers already prepared to roll out their offerings, Pru Life UK Philippines and Etiqa Life & General Assurance Philippines, Inc.

• Takaful is a type of Islamic insurance where members contribute a certain sum of money to a common pool. It needs to be compliant with Shari’ah law, which prohibits riba (interest), al-maisir (gambling), and al-gharar (uncertainty) principles.
